Hagia Sophia has the second largest dome in the world and pendentives to support the dome. hell ya we're making the model of this building and these 2 were the largest challenge for us.
the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation of semi dome. we felt excited whenever there was improvement, especially the 3rd one, it looks almost perfect.
after few days of sleepless night, we calculated the radius, circumference and almost everything, doing lot of experiments and finally came out with this, the 4th generation semi dome with pendentives. but all these were just the study models, we need to submit our model in balsa wood. and we realized all the calculations were useless.
class at 8, woke at 7.45. went to college, xxx-ed by lecturer. all because of these. the pendentives, dome and BOTH in balsa.
final tutorial on monday, so happy that the lecturer was satisfied with our works and we got the highest mark for the draft report.
late night at 12am, we're watching transformer while finalizing our model. can't not to mention huey hoong's sound system damn good with 22 inch LCD TV as monitor. around 3.30am, everything has done, planned to go yamcha but end up with fainted on bed.
we're satisfied with the model because it really looks good. all the hardworks and sleepless nights are worth.

these are what we submitted and presented last week.
Theme : A site to hide and peep
Design Concept : intricacy and maze
Materials : metal sheet
Reason : reflective -> confusing - hard to differentiate image and object
bendable - can make it into different shapes
Modules : 'square' (300x300) and cube (300x300x300)
Joining Techniques : square - extra 20mm at each side to fold into V shape and interlock
cube - stack up and weld
Why 2 different modules : to show the variable and the versatility of metal sheet
guess what. our model is one of the chosen five! our next project is on-site 1:1 construction, so you guys will see our design in the campus very soon. =D

the fire in the concert.
i thought that fire was one of the effects during the concert. but no. pity that thai singer who was performing. the music stopped suddenly and the blackout made him doesn't know what to do. damn embarrassing. but that was the climax. XD.
although great singers were there, the concert was too long, very tiring. and the sound effects sucks. so no next time for me in this kind of concert unless it's free again.

Good news : the lecturer likes the middle part of the model.
Bad news : we have to redo the walls.
Very bad news : we have one more model to go and the submission date of both models are on next Monday.
we have other assignments to do and we have only 2 hands. Hello??

here is our model in the small competition organized by SABD student society. though it was a lot different from what we designed but we got the 3rd prize.
'good explanation and nice idea.' commented by the QS lecturer.
i was so glad and i think it's a good start for me. =)
btw, i stuck in the traffic jam for more than 2 and hours yesterday because of the street protest.
